Hospice is a special kind of care designed to provide comfort and support for patients facing a terminal or life limiting illness, as well as comfort and support for their families.

The volunteer is an important part of the hospice care team. A volunteer’s time is part of a doctor’s prescription for the patient, just like a medication order. Friendly visits are one of the many ways you can contribute as a volunteer! You'll talk with the patient, go on walks with them, hold their hand, read to them or “hold the space” quietly.
