Who We Are
Washtenaw Association for Community Advocacy's mission is to empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to participate fully in community life through advocacy, education, and support. We envision a community that fully supports equality, dignity, respect and inclusion for all people. WACA is a chapter of the Arc of the United States and affiliated with The Arc Michigan.
What We Do
Washtenaw Association for Community Advocacy (WACA) provides advocacy for children with disabilities in school, for people who receive services through the public behavioral health system, and assistance navigating other programs including Medicaid. We also provide Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) for 21 counties in southern Michigan. WIPA provides information to people with disabilities about how earnings from work affect their Social Security and other public benefits. Finally, we offer trust management for special needs trusts to support the quality of life of individuals with disabilities over time.
