Our mission is to promote child safety and well-being, and to prevent child maltreatment, abuse, and neglect through educational service and programs for children, parents, community members, and youth-serving professionals throughout Washtenaw County.
Washtenaw Area Council for Children (WACC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit agency established in 1975 to promote child safety and deliver evidence-based programs and services that prevent the abuse and neglect of children. As the State of Michigan's designated local child abuse prevention council, our mission is met through community-based programing for families, children and youth, and local educators and service providers. Our core programs include: Safe Baby/Safe Sleep, Body Safety Training, Cyber Safety/Cyber Bullying, Wellness and Resiliency, Stewards of Children, and a professional development series for individuals working with children and families.
