We are seeking community members and local professionals to join us in making Fresh Start a true community resource. Our organizational goal is to increase our service capacity to serve more people with mental illness in Washtenaw County and we need your help.
We are seeking business owners/managers, realtors and property owners, lawyers, legislators and aides, criminal justice professionals, university employees, graduate students, and other professionals with an interest and passion for mental health. No professional mental health experience required!
Advisory Board members are expected to participate actively in at least one area of growth: community relations and marketing, fundraising, or job development.
Our current priorities are:
- Developing a strategic plan for our growth. We have a clear idea of where we would like to be in 3 years. We have begun the process of figuring out how we will get there.
- An important component of this is creating a marketing strategy including developing a formal plan for community engagement and expanding our website.
- The most important piece is a solid fundraising plan. We currently exist almost exclusively on Medicaid funds and we would like to shift into a model of more diversified funding.
We are hungry for people who do not work in mental health but who want to do something for the cause. This is your opportunity! We need your expertise to help us connect to the larger Washtenaw County community and share your knowledge to help us make recovery a possibility for more of our neighbors.
