GDABVI is proudly hosting its 5th Annual Resource Fair and Open House for residents of Southeastern Michigan. From 11am-3pm, the public is invited to meet with local vendors and organizations that will offer goods and services for people with any level of vision impairment.
As blind and partially sighted guests arrive, we need sighted guides, i.e., persons who can assist visually impaired people with walking safely and comfortably among the registration and information tables and to select a complimentary lunch. We ask guides to be available for one hour to assist.
GDABVI staff will offer a brief orientation when you arrive. Here are some useful Sighted Guide Techniques from the Sight Connection http://www.afb.org/info/friends-and-family/etiquette/being-a-sighted-guide/235
It'll be a fun-filled day with live music by the Tyrone Hamilton trio -- a popular group led by a local keyboard player and singer who is blind -- along with free burgers (veggie too), hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, raffles and games!
