100 volunteers are needed to support the construction of a Kaboom Playground in Bailey Park which is located in the McDougall Hunt Neighborhood of Detroit.
Impact on the community:
Residents of Detroit’s McDougall Hunt neighborhood believe that the neighborhood is at a pivotal point. With its rich cultural history, location surrounded by various community assets, increasing population diversity, and excess vacant land ripe for development near a burgeoning city center, McDougall Hunt is expected to experience growth in population and new housing development over the next decade.

The development of Bailey Park is the harbinger of the McDougall Hunt resident vision.
Position Description:
Volunteers on this park build day will physically build a playground that has been designed by and for the children of this community. Volunteers will put together playground equipment, build seating, and spread protective ground cover. Their contribution supports an ongoing community planning process to revitalize this historic community of committed residents.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Volunteers do not have to possess any special construction skill (though it would not hurt). Team leaders will teach volunteers what they need to do. Volunteers should be able to follow directions and be physically fit enough to carry light weight, walk and stand for substantial periods of time.
Time Commitment:
Volunteers are being sought who are available for the entire build time, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm but shorter time commitments can also work, four hour minimums are preferred. This is a one-time, one day commitment.
