A2 STEAM Bike And Pedestrian Training in Mcity!
Mcity is a 32-acre mock city and proving ground built for the testing of wirelessly connected and driver-less cars. It is located on the U of M North Campus.
The A2STEAM School community has been given exclusive access to this site for our first-ever Safe Routes to School Bike and Pedestrian Training Program.
Volunteers are needed to assist in a variety of capacities, including:
- Registration
- Information and direction
- Access control
- Assisting in all of the Activity Stations
- Setup
- Breakdown
Volunteer shifts:
- 8am to 11am
- 10am to 1pm
Event date: Saturday, May 4
Event hours: 9am to noon
Rain date: Sunday, May 5

Mcity is NOT open to the public. You can get access to this event, and see Mcity if you volunteer!
Activity stations:
- How to safely cross intersections and streets
- First aid
- Helmet fitting
- Bike maintenance and repair
- Obstacle course and riding skills
- Riding in a Bike Train
- Navigating the urban environment on bike
- Railroad safety
- How to navigate around pedestrians while on bike
