Child Team Member
Location:
Corner Health Center
Purpose:
Assist Mom Power team during sessions to provide safe child care.
The Mom Power leadership team will provide all the supplies, training, and support needed to perform your duties in the Child Team. This includes all toys, snacks for the children, and other supplies.
*this is a subsidized position, Child Team Members are paid $10/hour
Time Commitment:
Attend a 3 hour mandatory training prior to the start of the group.
September 16 through November 18th: 5 hours per week - Mondays 12:00pm-4:00pm plus an hour to submit a process note each week
Works with:
Mom Power Team, other volunteers, Corner patients, young children
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be available to attend group each week for 10 weeks, for 4.5-5 hour blocks of time.
- Be at least 18 years old
- Complete the on-boarding process including mandatory background check
- Attend a mandatory Child Team orientation
- Provide support to infants and toddlers while their moms attend group
- Support moms and their children during meal time
- Observe attachment behaviors between mother & child
- Assist with set-up and clean-up (including cleaning toys and room)
- Submit a weekly process note to the Child Team leaders
- Abide by and address the core components of the Child Team
- Attend the debriefing session after each group
- Provide safe child care
- Support safe separations and reunions
Qualifications:
- Experience caring for young children.
- 18 years or older
- Interest in learning more about infant mental health and parent/child attachment
Training:
Training is provided and mandatory. Must be able to commit to coming to every session in order to beset meet the needs of the parents.
Actual number of child team members needed depends on number of families who register for the group. Participant attrition may require dismissal of some child team members due to low attendance
