Washtenaw County Health Department is seeking volunteers to help with our monthly food distribution for individuals and families in need. Please use this sign up to register to volunteer. You can volunteer as an individual or sign up a small group (up to 8).
General Information and requirements:
- Volunteers should be 18+ years old.
- Volunteers will need to sign a volunteer agreement.
- No previous experience is required!
- If you are tracking hours for school or court please contact us before signing up.
- You may sign up to help with part of a shift, but need to sign up for at least 1.5 hours and arrive by 2 pm. If signing up for part of the shift, please note that in the comments when you respond.
Description: Assist with the clean, safe and efficient operation of food distribution. Works in team environment with other volunteers and staff. Help receive, sort, and organize food. Greet consumers, help them feel welcome, and assist them in selecting food for their household. Encourage consumers to take advantage of healthy choices. Help with carrying groceries, as needed. Help with set up and clean up. Light to moderate lifting (up to 40lbs) is needed for some tasks, but is not a requirement for volunteering.
