Want to give back to Metro Detroit school communities? Our Big Green Detroit team needs help cleaning up our 50+ school gardens this Spring and Summer!
Many of our schools have had little to no time to care for their school gardens this year. Let's help them clean up their gardens and get some things growing before students come back to school in Fall 2021! Here are some of the activities you can expect at an event:
- Weeding of garden beds and surrounding gravel
- Soil-top offs - lifting & dumping bags of soil, spreading out soil in beds
- Soil fertilization - adding and mixing in organic fertilizers to old soil
- Planting - if the time is right, we may even plant some seeds!
This is an outdoor activity, so please remember to dress for the weather! We work rain or shine, but will cancel if inclement weather is expected.
