Pig & Whiskey is a free, all-ages welcome event in downtown Ferndale, taking place Oct. 14 through Oct. 16. United Way for Southeastern Michigan is partnering with the Ferndale DDA and Pig & Whiskey to recruit volunteers to staff the four entry/exit locations of the event. Pig & Whiskey will donate $25 to United Way for Southeastern Michigan for every volunteer hour given!
Volunteers in this position should be social, engage with attendees and warmly welcome all who attend the event. Volunteers will:
- Welcome attendees to the event and downtown Ferndale
- Answer questions, including parking locations, event hours, bathroom locations, etc.
- Direct attendees to deposit trash and/or recycling in the proper receptacles near the exits
- Inform Event Staff when trash/recycling needs to be emptied
- Ensure alcohol does not enter or leave the event by visually observing attendees (any sort of searching attendees is not required)
Volunteers will be provided with a walkie talkie monitored by Event Staff and Ferndale Police should any situation requiring additional assistance arise. All entry/exit locations are within the footprint of the event and are actively monitored by Event Staff. Water will be supplied; volunteers are encouraged to bring snacks for breaks.
Dress Code: There is no dress code for the event, but it is outdoors and volunteers should dress weather appropriately. Volunteers will be provided with an orange vest for visibility that can be worn over clothing or jackets. In the event of rain, feel free to bring an umbrella.
