1/30/19 Point-in-Time Homelessness Count

Expired

Description

The Out-Wayne County Homeless Services Coalition needs volunteers to assist with the Coalition’s Point-In-Time (PIT) Count on Wednesday, January 30, 2019.

PIT Count is a requirement of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to count the unsheltered homeless population to determine funding for homeless services. In addition, the Coalition uses the information gathered from the PIT Count to improve and implement new programs for homeless individuals.

During the PIT Count, volunteers will be in teams of four, visiting local areas in which unsheltered homeless individuals may be found. Out-Wayne will be providing training at various locations, including Wayne Metro’s Westland location and Christnet’s facilities.

Volunteer locations include:

  • Harper Woods
  • Dearborn
  • Livonia
  • Garden City
  • Westland
  • Taylor
  • Wyandotte

There are two shifts (below) available for registration. The first hour of each shift will be volunteer training, and the remaining three hours will be spent participating in the PIT count. Volunteers can register as an individual or can register as a group clicking the "Respond as a Team" button.
